COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Sarah Maude William, 86, will be held Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Westville. Rev. Dr. William C. Pate will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday 2:30-4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home.
Mrs. Williams died Saturday, October 24, 2009. Born in Kershaw County, she was the last of 13 children of the late Haze and Maude Williams. She retired from the South Carolina Department of Social Service and retired as the secretary to the Adjutant General at Fort Jackson. She was a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church in Columbia, and enjoyed traveling and reading.
Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Jerry and Colleen Horton of Kershaw, Betty Harris of Camden, Billy and Barbara Copeland of Conway, Donald Copeland of Bethune, David Copeland of Kershaw, Sybil and William Blakely of Lancaster, Marcie and Freddie Mintz of Columbia, Brenda and Hugh Fletcher of Kershaw, Dale Williams of N.C., Bobby and Bessie Hinson of Lancaster; Chris Williams of Kershaw, and Bruce Kirkley of Lancaster; and great-niece, Debbie (Jimmy) Blackwell of Camden; and numerous other great-nieces and nephews.
