ELGIN - Funeral service for Evelyn Marie Carlson, 76, will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia. Rev. Dan Griffin will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Harmony Baptist Church, 998 Tookie Doo Lane, Elgin, S.C. 29045.
Mrs. Carlson, wife of the late Douglas Carlson, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Born in Laurens, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Arthur A. Watson and Frances Mae Duncan. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield and Richland School District. She was a member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed gardening.
She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, Elgin. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Carter of Elgin; son, Scott Carlson of Bethune; sisters, Jerri Clarkson of Columbia, and Brenda (Dennis) Hogue of Rockhill; and granddaughters, Sabrina Carlson, Stephanie Carlson, and Sierra Carlson.
