CAMDEN - Funeral service for Clarence F. Riggins, 86, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Wateree Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Bobby James, Rev. Joe Stines and Rev. Richard Cameron will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 4-6 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorial may be made to Wateree Baptist Church, 2024 Haile Street, Camden, S.C. 29020.
Mr. Riggins died Friday, January 01, 2010. Born in Monroe, N.C., he was a son of the late James Jack and Annie Elizabeth Fink Riggins. He served in the United States Army in WW II and was a POW for 3 ½ years on the Island of Bataan of Corregidor. He retired from Kendal Mill where he was a supervisor.
Mr. Riggins was a member of the American Legion Post 17, VFW, POW – Palmetto League, and DAV. He was also a member of Kershaw Lodge #29.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Annie Lee Tyson Riggins; son, Danny Clarence “Monk” Riggins and his wife, Arlan of Cassatt; sister, Elizabeth Bruce of Greenville; grandchildren, Danny Clarence Riggins, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer of Hartsville, and David Eric Riggins of Cassatt; and great-grandchildren, Madison Grace Riggins and Madalynn Marie Riggins.
